INDIA  VISA 


Entering  India : 

Foreign Nationals desirous of coming into India are required to possess a valid passport of their country and a valid Indian Visa.


Visa :
Foreign nationals desirous of  coming into India are required to possess a valid passport of their country and  a valid Indian Visa. There is no provision of “Visa on Arrival” in India and no fee is  charged for immigration facilities at the  airports. Foreign passengers should ensure that they are in  possession of valid Indian visa before they start their journey to India except nationals of Nepal and Bhutan who do not require visa to enter India.


The  consular passport   and  visa division of the ministry of external affairs is responsible for issuance of Indian visas to the foreign nationals for their visit for various purposes. This facility is granted through various Indian missions abroad.


Tourist  Visa : This visa  is  normally granted for  a period of six months. The applicant is required to produce/submit documents in proof of his financial standing. Tourist visas are non extendible and non – convertible. 


 

Business Visa : This visa is normally granted for one or more years with multiple  entries. A letter from the sponsoring organization indicating nature of business , probable duration of stay , places and organizations to be visited incorporating therein a guarantee to meet maintenance expenses, etc should accompany the  application .

Transit Visa : This visa is issued for a maximum period of 15 – days with single / double entry facilities . Transit visa can’t  be  obtained from immigration counters at ports of entry in India. Transit visa is non – extendable in India.


Conference Visa : This  visa is  issued for attending conferences / seminars / meetings in India . Along with the application you are required to submit a letter of invitation from the organizer of the mission.


IMMIGRATION :

There  is no provision of “Visa on Arrival” in India and no fee is  charged for immigration facilities at the  airports. However, there is a  provision of granting TLF ( Temporary Landing Facility)/ TLP ( Temporary Landing Permit ) to allow entry of foreigners arriving in emergent situations like death / serious illness in the  family , without an Indian visa on cash payment of US$ 40.00


This  facility can also be extended to transiting foreigners having confirmed onward journey tickets within 72 hours. Apart  from this , foreign tourists  in groups of four or more arriving by air or sea, sponsored by recognized Indian Travel Agencies and with a pre-drawn itinerary can be granted collective  landing permit for a specified period of time on the written request of the Travel Agencies to the Immigration.
