Overview

INTRODUCTION :

The  6883 meters high mount  “Kanjiroba Himal (South)” is geographically located at Dolpo region, in the western part of Nepal.

At first,  this mountain peak “Kanjiroba Himal”, located at a distance of 40km away to the north of mount “Tso Karpo Kang” (6556m) was seen & tracked out from the top of the mount “Tso Karpo Kang” itself.

At that time, the name of  this particular mountain was quite unknown, and the mountaineers had only a rough idea about this ice peak that it must be in Nepal - Tibet border and to the eastern part of Mugu district.   The old name of this mountain “Kanjiroba Himal” was given as “Kubi Kangri” on the old maps by the survey of India dated from  1930 AD. It was probably the geographical data from the expedition of Sven Hedin's in 1907AD.  The  access route to mt “Kanjiroba” since then has long been the center of our interest among the mountaineers thereafter.

The expedition trip to mt “Kanjiroba” starts from Kathmandu followed by a domestic flight towards Nepalgunj  & to Juphal. Afterwards the trekking trail takes the mountaineers towards Jopala Khola and ultimately to the mount Kanjiroba Base camp.
