A trekking journey starts from the main entrance gate of the National Park at the foothill called
Balaju by pass.  Hiking  up hill across the stone staircase  for 3 hours  will  bring you
on the top of  Nagarjuna hill.  This  trail passes through  the  forest called  Raniban ( Queen Forest ),  overlooking a beautiful scenery and some of the rare bird species.

The trekkers will also encounter some of the natural caves here during the trip. There exists  the “Nagarjuna  Cave”  inside  which  are enshrined  the statue of  “Akshobhya  Buddha”  and “Nagarjuna Buddha”.  This cave is known as “ Guru Rimpoche Cave” among the Tibetans
and as “ Laxmi Gupha Cave”among the natives here.  An another  cave  in the surrounding is “Mahisha Buddha Cave “  ( a buffalo herder’s  cave  who became Buddha after a  deep & rewardful  meditation  in the cave ).

The hill top destination  is also locally  known as “Jamacho”  which is also an important pilgrimage center for both the Hindus &  Buddhists .  A trekker when arrives  on the hill top will delighted to see a Buddhist  Stupa and a small Hindu shrine and hence this site is equally important  for all. The sacred statues of Nagarjuna Buddha, god  Mahankala, Padmapani Lokeshwora  & Vajrapani as well as the  goddess Vasundhara , White Tara &  Green Tara  are the main attractions to the believers.

The pilgrims visit here on the festivals  called “ Jamacho Purnima “  ( full moon day on April ) and during  “Buddha Jayanti Purnima”. ( full moon day on May ), every year.  An amazing view of  bustling  Kathmandu city with its dense  settlement , from the hill top is  an  another  visual  reward  for the trekkers who arrives on the Nagarjuna hill top. An incredible Himalayan mountains such as  Annapurna , Manaslu , Jugal, Ganesh  Himal with Langtang series  are also visible to the northern extreme.
